Local Attractions

Things to do during time off!

Nights Off:

  • Shelter Island:  There are many things to do on Shelter Island during time off! Sign out a bike or catch a ride to Whales Tale a mini golf course, Tuck Shop the local ice cream spot, Crescent Beach a public beach down the road, and many options to grab a bite!
  • Greenport: Greenport is just a ride across the ferry! Greenport has cute little shops, great food choices, and roller skating! Monday nights throughout the summer, they also host concerts on the lawn.
  • Sag Harbor: Another cute town to explore is Sag Harbor on the South Fork of Long Island. Take the South Ferry across and explore Sag Harbor village, with great food and shopping options.

Days Off:

  • Montauk: Montauk is a wonderful recreation spot! Take the Suffolk County bus to Montauk State Park, which has miles of trails, beaches, and an historic lighthouse. Bring food to make it a picnic!
  • Splish Splash and shopping at Tanger Outlets in Riverhead: Riverhead is easily accessible by public transportation. Catch the Suffolk County bus, the Hampton Jitney, or the Long Island Railroad to make the 1 hour trip to Riverhead. Riverhead has every shop imaginable – Walmart, Target, and the Tanger Outlet Mall. Splish Splash is a water park, perfect for relaxing and cooling off in the summer heat!

Pre/Post Camp:

  • New York City: For the best experience, plan your trip to NYC for before or after camp, as it’s hard to fully experience the city in 24 hours! Take the Hampton Jitney or the Long Island Railroad in to Penn Station, and from there, the city is yours! From Times Square to Broadway, explore NYC for a true American trip!
  • Some staff plan post camp trips to many cities in the U.S. including Miami, Los Angeles, Washington D.C. and more! The close proximity to NYC airports makes it easy to find flights to places all across America post camp!
