Here is a snapshot of the activities we offer at Quinipet!
Campers will rank their preferred electives each week and receive a personalized schedule!
The following are the programming areas we have at Quinipet and some examples of the activities offered within each area.
The activities are adjusted to the age group of those participating.

Waterfront

Campers will go to waterfront during a scheduled time with their cabin! At the waterfront they can participate in free swim, corcl'ing, building sand castles, playing corn hole, using the slip n' slide, and more! 
  • Free Swim – Cannonball! Splish and splash in our swim area under American Red Cross Certified lifeguard supervision. 
  • Corcl'ing – Campers of all ages love to Corcl! Spin, kneel, or just hang out with these fun little boats.

Our day campers also have the opportunity to participate in the activities above as well as instructional swim for 5-6 year olds.
  • Instructional Swim – In the process of growing your gills? Gain confidence and become a better swimmer with the help of our lifeguards. Day campers ages 5-6 will receive instructional swimming daily, weather permitting. ​

Sports & Games

Enjoy traditional sports and outdoor activities at Quinipet! Play a friendly game of basketball, relax with yoga, or bust some moves with a dance workout!
  • Basketball – Shoot some hoops and play basketball with your friends. 
  • Soccer – Get your kicks! Learn the fundamentals and play a friendly game of soccer with your friends. 
  • Volleyball – Serve, spike, and bump! Learn the basics and play a game.​
  • Yoga – Find your flow! Relax and stretch and enjoy the view from the Breezeway. ​
  • Aerobics/Dance Workout – Dance like no one's watching! Work up a sweat with music and a fun routine. ​​

Outdoor Education/STEM

  • Nature Exploration – Explore our Shelter Island eco system, in and out of the water.  ​
  • Robotics - Meet the camp robot and learn programming skills while teaching it new tricks!
  • Low Ropes and Team Building- Our team building activities and low ropes course are an awesome way for campers to build their team work skills within their cabin or activity group.
  • Survival - Hone in on your survival skills. Learn how to pitch a tent, build a fire, orienteer, and more!
  • Outdoor Cooking – Did you know you can bake a cupcake in an orange shell? Make (and eat!) tasty food over a campfire.​
  • Rock Climbing 12+ - Campers 12+ can climb the famous Quinipet rocks. Our staff certified in belaying will lead campers in the safety and skills needed to climb a natural rock face.

Arts

Let your creative side show! Bring home artwork, learn how to make delicious food, or impress your friends with magic tricks! 

  • ​Watercolor/Sketching - Let your paintbrush or pencil run wild! Unleash your imagination and explore different art mediums. 
  • Dance – Get your groove on! Practice a routine and share it with the camp on Friday night. 
  • Music/Rock Band – Jam session! Play an instrument, form a band, or write a song--and choose to perform in front of the whole camp. 
  • Drama, Musical Theater, and Set Design – Find the spotlight! Write and perform your own skits with your friends. 
  • Videography – You're the director! Write a script and film it or create a music video, it's up to you.   
  • Arts & Crafts  - Explore traditional camp crafts including tie-dye, leather stamping, lanyards, and friendship bracelets.  ​
  • Jewelry Making - We have many jewelry mediums including leatherwork, metalwork, and clay! Get blinged out or make a piece of jewelry for your friends or family.
  • Newspaper ​- Document the Quini-News of the week. Work on your journalist skills and interview a staff member or write a short story. Both Illustrators and Writers wanted!
  • Cooking/Baking - Wok on! Learn great recipes and cook delicious food or baked goods with our cooking expert. ​​

Off Camp Trips

Explore more of Shelter Island by taking a trip off camp on one of the following adventures! These trips are offered to both Overnight and Day Campers according to age and availability.
  • Kayaking/Stand-Up Paddle Board - Paddle power! Explore the waters around Quinipet. This trip is offered to campers age 9+. 
  • *Wakeboarding - Catch some waves! This trip is offered to campers age 9+. (Costs $80 per trip *advance registration required)
  • *Tubing - Keep calm and float on! This trip is offered to campers age 7+. ​​(Costs $80 per trip *advance registration required)
​*Campers must complete a swim check upon arrival to demonstrate comfort in open bay water. Our swim check consists of four laps in our swimming area and treading water for thirty seconds.
