Quinipet Camp & Retreat Center has an opening for an energetic, skilled person to join our year-round team. The ideal candidate has the knowledge and skills to maintain our property for retreat guests and summer campers, including a working knowledge of carpentry, electrical repairs, plumbing, grounds and vehicle maintenance.
Quinipet is located on beautiful Shelter Island, NY, which has the best of two worlds, an unspoiled beachfront setting just 2.5 hours east of Manhattan. Living at a children's camp makes for a wonderful quality of life, and Shelter Island is a great community. We have a Pre-K-12th grade school, areas to hike and bike, friendly community events, grocery store, pharmacy—and no traffic lights! Living onsite is a requirement and hours are flexible, including nights and weekends. This position is exempt and has a salary range of $50,000-$60,000.

New York Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church Position Description
Job Title: Property Manager Department/Area: Camping and Retreat Ministry Reports to: Executive Director Direct Reports: Maintenance Assistant Classification: Exempt
Summary: The Camping and Retreat Ministry is a part of the New York Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. Staff members are part of a team supporting a common ministry to youth and adults at Quinipet Camp and Retreat Center and Kingswood Campground. The Property Manager is an integral part of our program and will be working under the supervision of the Executive Director. This position is expected to further our mission through the management and oversight of the Quinipet Camp & Retreat Center facility.
Principal Duties or Tasks:
Oversee the property year round in order to provide a clean, welcoming and safe experience for retreat guests and summer campers.
Organize and implement care and preventive maintenance of buildings, roads and grounds, equipment and vehicles.
Manage all related responsibilities in accordance with local, NYS Department of Health, and American Camp Association standards.
Respond promptly to maintenance issues, including off hours and weekends.
Serve as point of contact for outside vendors; including trash removal, fire suppression equipment, etc.
Organize and maintain inventory of equipment, tools, cleaning and paper supplies, etc.
In coordination with the Executive Director, plan long range and capital projects and oversee outside contractors.
In coordination with the Executive Director, plan and oversee the property budget.
Assist with hiring, training, and supervising maintenance personnel as needed.
Provide leadership and support for property related projects, operations, and volunteer work events.
Assist as needed in driving 12-passenger van.
Attend appropriate meetings as assigned.
Participate in training and continuing education as needed to develop skills and maintain best practices.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: 1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. Minimum of five years related experience, including working knowledge of carpentry, electrical repairs, plumbing, grounds and vehicle maintenance. 3. A proven self-motivator with skills in organizing and completing a range of maintenance functions. 4. A high standard of personal reliability, initiative and the ability to multi-task. 5. Capable of overseeing construction projects performed by outside contractors. 6. Positive personality with ability to work collaboratively to achieve goals and objectives. 7. Experience developing and monitoring budgets. 8. Experience with working safely in compliance with all OSHA regulations. 9. Possess a valid New York State driver's license and be capable of driving a 12-passenger van. 10. Required to live onsite.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 1. Ability to work with some exposure to noise, dust, fumes, vibrations and temperature changes. 2. Ability to bend, stoop and squat. 3. Must be in excellent health and have the ability to lift up to 75 pounds on a repetitive basis. 4. May handle chemicals as part of the daily operational duties.
