Welcome to Day Camp!

I'm glad you are ready to plan your summer events. Quinipet is always a great choice for children on Shelter Island, and nearby as well. Having a fun and adventurous time is at the center of our planning. 

Check out our different age groups, look at a typical day at camp, and then register your child for a great summer on Shelter Island. All online! 

As in the past, each age group will have a permanent Program Director who will plan out age appropriate activities, oversee individual needs of the group, and utilize the talents of our Counseling staff. I am looking forward to another memorable summer, meeting old friends and making new ones!

A Day in Day Camp

Mornings

The day begins at 9am with the whole Day Camp gathering together for a morning Bible story and Christian based songs to get the day started! Soon after, the children split into their age groups and begin their day's activities.

A typical Quinipet day offers a variety of activities including: swimming, arts & crafts, nature experiences, team building, games and music. We proved the children of Shelter Island and intorduction to the wonders of creation that helps them grow in a community of caring friends.

Afternoons

After lunch there is a brief rest period for the children to settle-down and relax. Afternoon activities pick back up, including swimming and continues through the day until snack time. Snack time is a nutritional snack at 3:15 with the day ending at 4:00 pm on the playground.

Lunch

Lunch is served for K thru 7th Grade at 11:30 AM for the Morning and Full Day Campers. Afternoon and Lovebug programs do not get served lunch.

American Camping Association

Quinipet is accredited by the American Camping Association which sets the national standard for camp safety and program guidelines. This site is also monitored by the New York State and County Department of Health. many of the individual programs, where applicable, are also accredited by their own industry standards such as the Low Ropes and Sailing Programs.
