Many of you have already tuned in to our new Bulkhead Blog. We are also starting a Sailing Barn Blog dedicated to its rehabilitation/reconstruction. Comments are welcome! We will use this blog for more general info and notices while large projects will be documented in their own space.
BTW, Another exciting project underway is the repaving of our roads! This has already begun and should be finished shortly. Next time you drive through, what will be missing are the pot holes!
Hurricane Sandy of 2012 destroyed approximately 2400 linear feet of bulkhead. The 2013 NYAC meeting approved a United States Small Business disaster relief mortgage at 3%. We are currently pursuing and finalizing different stages of this project and hope to start repair in the winter/spring of 2014. Quinipet from the water will look a bit different after the work is underway and completed. A 15 ft. wide swath of trees will need to be removed from the shoreline in order to gain access by equipment. The shaded beach will be - not so shaded! We hope to arrange plantings and a walking trail along the top of the new bulkhead structure which will enhance and reclaim some of its beauty. Keep in mind, however, our landscape will look different from before... the storm left us no option.
As enter 2014 we are a bit held up at Step Five!
Total Cost: $750,000
UPDATE: 5/26/14 - project is underway, visit our BULKHEAD project page for more info.
UPDATE: 2015 - the bulkhead was completed earlier this year.

Projects to update and maintain the property are an ongoing endeavour. We do our very best to keep Quinipet functioning and looking good for everyone.
