Programing and Partnerships

Quinipet has partnered with organizations across Long Island to offer school groups educational and recreational programing ranging from marine activities to team building.

Mashomack Preserve

​Did you know 1/3 of Shelter Island is a nature preserve?  Mashomack has an extensive, educational visitor center and many miles of seaside trails for hiking and outdoor fun.  Plan to spend at least two hours taking the 3-mile hike or take all day to do the 10-mile hike.  Give them a call for more information at (631) 749-1001.

Quogue Wildlife Refuge

​Quogue has a great group of young educators who work for the Quogue Wildlife Refuge.  This group of educators is availible to put on many different programs at Quinipet for larger groups.  They have folks to do group challenge games, salt marsh studies, Long Island geo-formations,  forest studies, birds of prey--the list goes on and on!  You can call  (631) 653-4771 for more information or Quinipet will set up a program for you.

Orient Star V

The Orient Star V provides groups with a wonderful fishing experience! The Orient Star V is the perfect venue for large Sportfishing groups and can carry up to 49 passengers.  The Orient Star V completes annual United States Coast Guard Safety Inspections and are proud members of the North Fork Captain's Association. They are licensed and insured, and provide all rods, reels, bait & tackle.

American Beauty 2

​Quinipet and the American Beauty have joined forces to provide a unique marine studies program for your school group. Captain Don Heckman will take you on a guided tour by water of Mashomack Nature Preserve or around the waters of Shelter Island and the North Fork. While on-board, your school can examine the flora and fauna of the Peconic estuary by pulling lobster traps and seine netting. All of our educational marine programs can be designed to meet learning standards for your grade level. The American Beauty is Coast Guard inspected and insured and has a capacity of 38 people. This is sure to be a great adventure as well as a great educational experience.

Suffolk County Farm and Education Center 

"The Suffolk County Farm and Education Center’s mission is to provide hands-on research-based learning to all residents with themes in agriculture, animal sciences, history, STEM, healthy living, and life skills, in a unique year-round learning environment and in community spaces. The Farm’s vision is to connect with our agricultural heritage and to pave the way for a bright, healthy, and sustainable future."

The Suffolk County Farm provides on-site programming such as farm animal visits and education courses about winter wildlife, chicken incubation, and more! Call to find out more information about their programs offered at Quinipet
