New Camper Families

Going to camp for the first time can be daunting, but your camper will grow and gain confidence every step of the way. There are lots of ways you can prepare them for their first summer at Camp Quinipet.

Founded in 1947, Quinipet is grounded spiritually (and physically!) upon our five rocks; Love, Courage, Faith, Honesty and Humility. These rocks act as our value base, guiding everything that we do at camp. Quinipet is an ideal environment for inner spiritual reflection and growth. We strive to make Quinipet a welcoming and inclusive environment for people from all backgrounds.

Camp Traditions

Our Program

Overnight campers choose electives for the week, tailoring their activity schedule and meeting new friends featuring activities within Sports, Visual Arts, Performing Arts, and STEM.

Our Staff

Quinipet’s staff really is what makes the Quinipet magic come alive! Carefully chosen from around the World, our camp staff introduces campers to new cultures as living examples of diversity and individuality. We take pride in hiring counselors who embody the values set out by our five rocks; Love, Faith, Courage, Honesty and Humility. Each counselor is carefully chosen based on their skills, experience, passion and ability to serve as role models for our campers. Each staff member goes through extensive background and reference checks and participates in our staff training process.

Camp Store

Our camp store has a variety of items available for campers to purchase. We offer a variety of reasonable snacks, beverages and ice creams. Snacks can include baked chips, fruit snacks and granola bars. All snacks sold in the camp store are nut free. Campers get an opportunity each day at camp to visit the camp store, campers are limited to purchasing one drink and up to two snacks or one snack and one ice cream each day.
Quinipet Camp & Retreat Center is owned and operated by the New York Conference of The United Methodist Church.
Our incredible Shelter Island setting invites connection, reflection, and spiritual growth.  All are welcome!
