Welcome. All of us at Quinipet are very excited about summer 2008.  We have some new camps this year and of course we've kept all the classics, so you should check them out.  This camp season is going to be the best ever.  We can't wait to see you here.

Without a doubt, we are a Christian Camp!  In this day of “political correctness,” we have to keep to our original Christian Mission of Christ’s example of a loving and wise teacher shedding light through the teachings of the Bible.  We have chapel every morning, vespers every evening, we say grace before meals, and make a joyful noise - we sing, we sing and we sing, sing, and sing!  We talk about how God wants us to live and how we live now, and we do all of this with an openness and faith-filled attitude.

As times change and family schedules become increasingly overwhelmed with commitments, we have adjusted to meet the needs of our families.  We attempt to get as much feedback as possible through a survey and many personal conversations with parents.  We have also added a few more partial week camps for some older youth.

The mission of the Camping and Retreat Ministries of the New York Annual Conference follows the footsteps of Christ, calling forth new disciples, bringing them into a relationship with the Living God, identifying and nurturing their gifts, and sending them forth in service to the world.

We like parents and youth to know that we plan to meet campers where they are in their own faith journey.  Our program is designed to open minds, not to intimidate or overwhelm.  We cannot promise your child (our camper) will have spiritual awakenings, but we can promise to take the very best care of them while they are here and give them many opportunities to share and discover a Christian Faith they are comfortable with.

So go ahead, register for summer camp.  Since 1922 campers have been coming to Quinipet.  We think about five hundred campers have come each year since then, not to mention all of the great non-profit groups and schools we work with in the off season.  Isn't it time to get back to the foundations of life?

We hope to see you soon,
                                                       Greg Nissen - Director

Family Camp Retreat 2008
June 29th - July 5th

Thank you for your interest in family camp 2008.  The Family Camp program will be administered directly through the event organizers rather than through Quinipet.  This new way of administering the program is to assist families in keeping the cost down and to remove some of the restrictions such as Department of Health medical forms which are not required for retreats and adults.   Rev. Sue Klein is the event director.  Feel free to call at 203 426 9998 to her church office or email her at revsueklein@sbcglobal.net !  We are looking forward to an awesome week this 40th Year!

If your chosen camp is full, please call to be placed on the waiting list. Thank you!!

Overnight Camp Descriptions

First Timers

Is this your first time coming to camp? This half-week long program is an introduction to camping... same great activities as the full week programs, including swimming, arts and crafts, campfire and more!

Island Explorers

Island Pioneers

Are you ready to experience everything Quinipet has to offer? This week-long camp offers fun and exciting activities like nature hikes, swimming in the bay, arts and crafts, campfires, fun new games and much more.

Team Sports & Athletics

Got game?  This camp is full of fun games and sports from the traditional to the wacky. Its time to go out and play!

Equestrian

If you love horses, this camp may be the one for you. Quinipet teams up with Hampshire Farms to teach you how to ride and care for horses.  Check out our 4-day camp for the younger horse lovers too.  These programs are geared for the beginner.  Please bring long pants and heeled boots for this event.

Wind and Wave

This camp combines the best water sports Camp Quinipet and Shelter Island have to offer, Sailing and Kayaking. You will learn the basics of both while enjoying all your favorite Quinipet activities.

Pink Lightning

Pink Thunder

This is a program just for young women, including everything Quinipet has to offer...swimming, arts and crafts, campfire and the rest. You will also explore the wonders and challenges of being a young woman in the modern world with the people who understand it best, your peers!

Kayaking

Come and explore Shelter Island like never before. At Kayak camp, you will captain your own boat in and around the shores of Shelter Island. No experience necessary, just a willingness to try something new.

Sailing camps

Quinipet has a full sailing crew ready to get you out on the water. Check out our website for more information about which sailing camp – beginner, intermediate or advanced - is right for you.  You must be a swimmer to attend these camps.  Plan to spend 8 hours wet every day!

Ultimate Challenge

With this camp, you will have the opportunity to push yourself to new limits. It’s all about adventure and self-discovery as you and your campmates work together to accomplish the improbable – if not the impossible.

Rock the Boat

If you love to be out on the water, come join us for a week of boating. You’ll get the chance to take the sailboats out for a cruise, take a unique tour of Shelter Island by kayak, tour around the camp by canoe and much more.  In 2007 we even went on a Coast Guard boat!

Travels With Friends

Come with us as we explore the best that the East End of Long Island has to offer - from water parks to beaches. Join us for this action packed week - which is unique to Quinipet.
