Quinipet Rocks Day Camp 2008

georgiana.jpg

Greetings:

I'm glad you are ready to plan your summer events.  Quinipet is always a great choice for children on Shelter Island, and nearby as well.  Having a fun and adventurous time is at the center of our planning.  As in the past, each age group will have a permanent couselor who will plan out age appropriate activities, flex to the individual needs of our leadership staff.  I am looking forward to another memorable summer, meeting old friends and making new ones!

Quinipet is entering it's 61st year of camping on Shelter Island.  The day camp provides a wonderful, casual time of learning in the outdoors with trained and caring leaders.

A typical Quinipet day offers a variety of activities including: instructional swimming, arts & crafts, nature experiences, team building and music. Quinipet provides the children of Shelter Island an introduction to the wonders of creation and helps them grow in a community of caring friends.

What does a day of camp look like?

The day begins at 9am with the whole Day Camp gathering together for a morning Bible story and Christian based songs to get the day started! Soon after, the children will split into their age groups and begin their day’s activities.

2-3 swim lessons a week

Full day & afternoon campers will have free swim every day, weather permitting.

Nature, arts and crafts, music and games are scheduled throughout the day.

Lunch is served at 11:30am for the morning and full day groups.

(The afternoon-only program does not include lunch.)

There is a brief rest period for the children to relax and settle-down after lunch. The day’s activities continue at 1:15 pm and the fun-filled day comes to a close at 4pm daily.

For those in the morning-only program, the day comes to a close at 12pm, after lunch.
