Shelter Island Kayak Tours:

Mashomack Preserve:
Did you know 1/3 of Shelter Island is Mashomack Preserve? Mashomack has a great new visitor
center with many miles of seaside trails for hiking and outdoor fun! Plan to spend at least two hours taking the 3-mile
hike or take all day to do the 10-mile hike. Give them a call for more information at 631 749 1001.
Quogue Wildlife Refuge:
Quogue has a great group of young educators who work for the Quogue Wildlife Refuge.
This group of educators is availible to put on many different programs at Quinipet for larger groups. They have
folks to do group challenge games, salt marsh studies, Long Island geo-formations, forest studies, birds
of prey--the list goes on and on! You can call Mike at 631 653 4771 for more information or Quinipet will set up
a program for you.

Cruising on the American Beauty II Captain
Don Heckman can take your group on a guided tour of Mashomack Nature Preserve, by water, to point out
the numerous shore birds or take you on the water tour of Shelter Island and the North Fork. Quinipet
and the American Beauty have joined forces to provide a unique marine studies program for your school groups.
Your school can examine the flora and fauna of the Peconic estuary, while on-board the American Beauty, by pulling
lobster traps and seine netting to look up close and personal with the underwater ecosystem. All of our educational marine
programs can be designed to meet State Standards for your grade level. The American Beauty is Coast Guard inspected
and insured and has a capacity of 38 people. This is sure to be a great adventure as while as a great educational
experience.
